This last weekend we had the privilege to spend three nights at the Beautiful Halekulani Resort in Waikiki. It now shines out as being our all time favorite 5 star resort and we spent a very relaxing time there - feeling thoroughly spoiled. The weather was perfect which we were very grateful for as we expected rain. Upon arrival we were treated to a very gracious in room check in and from that point could only marvel at the warmth and sincerity of every staff member we encountered. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The Resort is expensive however you absolutely get what you pay for - pure luxury. Our room was an Ocean view on the 15th floor and we had amazing views of Diamond Head and the Ocean.

Halekulani is conveniently located right in the heart of Waikiki so close to Beach Walk - although once inside the resort we did not have city noise at all and we felt like we were in an oasis with palm trees and fantastic views. The rooms were decorated in cool whites and blues with a fabulous bathroom including a spa tub. We were content to watch the surfers and sail boats from our room, venturing out to walk along Waikiki Beach and sample the amazing food at the Orchid Restaurant offering the "Best Sunday Brunch in Waikiki" . Not to mention cocktails at The House Without a Key where you can enjoy watching the Hula dancing accompanied by a low key Hawaiian band. Oceanfront under a 110 year old Kiawe tree.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to tour the Elegant Orchid and Royal Suites which must have the very best view in Hawaii and so close to the ocean. There was a wedding party staying in the Vera Wang Suite, with the couple being married right on the balcony.

It was truly an incredible experience and has lifted months of stress from us both in three

relaxing pampered days - I can only begin to imagine how we would feel after an entire week!

Matamanoa Island Resort

Arriving at Matamanoa Island you are greeted by their staff with the signature Fijian ear to ear smiles, island songs and welcome tropical drink. It is a small intimate adults only resort perfect for couples wanting beachfront solitude. The bures are spacious and offer two aspects - Sunrise which overlooks the white sandy beach and activities area or the more secluded sunset bures located above the beachfront overlooking snorkelling lagoons. There are two types of accommodations - Beachfront Bures and motel style units located back from the beach.

The restaurant overlooks the beachfront and infinity pool with a cosy bar area located poolside. Honeymoon couples receive a personalised plaque with their first names engraved which can be hung on the doorknob to their bure. The beach is made of sugar fine sand leading down to crystal clear water. Matamanoa offers all water sports kayaks, sailboats, scuba, windsurfing, snorkelling, fishing.

Monuriki Island - Set of Tom Hanks movie - Castaway can be a wonderful day trip for couples wanting total seclusion or the adventurous wanting to explore the island.
For those looking for a wedding venue - Matamanoa comes highly recommended. They offer very affordable packages and many options for wedding locations.

We had an absolutely beautiful wedding and honeymoon at matamanoa.The day was perfect, made only more special by all the dramas with customs... and the staff in Fiji were fabulous having got to know us pretty well and what we were going through by the big day! I managed to hold back the tears and we got some stunning photographs, and the day was over all too quickly!! We then spent a couple of weeks cruising around the Yasawa Islands which was amazing. I'm sure we will return to Fiji one day, a good excuse to celebrate an anniversary out there!!

Tokoriki Island Resort

Tokoriki Island Resort is an all time favourite in Fiji!

Perfect for Honeymooners and romance. It is located in the outer Mamanuca Islands a short hop via helicpoter or seaplane from Nadi Airport.

Also accessible via fast Catarmaran from Denarau Harbour. There are two categories of accommodation, Deluxe Beachfront Bures with indoor and outdoor showers or the Sunset Pool Villas which are larger with your own infinity edge beachfront pool. The restaurant is located poolside and in the evening is lit by tiki lamps. With the sunset silhouetting the beachfront palm trees against the sea.

Tokoriki has fabulous packages on offer which will include a helicopter transfer from Nadi Airport for stays of 7 nights or more. Accommodation rates are inclusive of all meals and non motorised water sports.
